What are your top tips for surviving the Christmas season?

TheSite.org is compiling a list of users’ ‘top tips for surviving the festive season’ so we wondered how you go about it…

Some of things we’ve thought of are getting creative and making decorations or perhaps hiding the board games and teaching your gran how to Wii. Whatever your secret – we’d love to hear it.
We’ll then compile the most creative/popular ten and include them in a press release to promote TheSite.org.

Thanks!

Please yourself, not everyone else. If there are people you cannot stand and don't see all year around, why should you be expected to be in their company at Christmas, make your excuses and stay away.

I did this for the first time last year because I was sick to death of arguments and relatives who I do not get on with being forced upon me, every Christmas I can remember has been ruined in some way or another because of this. I made a stand and said that me and my son would be staying at home and having Christmas there, we did and it was brilliant. It didn't go down well but who cares, we had a nice time and that is the most important thing.

Resume Tips That Work: 5 Hidden Secrets On How To Write A Resume That Employers Cant Ignore

What are some tips for hiding shyness and awkwardness?

How do look natural while hiding severe shyness? I think people suspect that I'm shy and lonely : ( (I wish i didn't have to hide it like a shameful secret) It's hard to not get too close to people when you don't have any other friends and they have lots.
I mean I'm shy and I'm trying to act not shy, but I think people can tell. I REALLY want to make friends, but you can't make friends if people think you need friends.

I know what I'm going to recommend is not easy, but here you go.

Allot of times shyness is people not willing to go into an area that makes them uncomfortable. Just the thought of saying HI to someone can seem scary. If you forced yourself to at least say Hi to ten people a day for 2 weeks. At the end of that time you will not be so uncomfortable about doing it. It will then become allot easier for you. When you have broken down that wall it is time for the next step. Which is at least saying a full sentence to them. It will be very hard at first but with time it will get easier. Then just keep pushing the limits of your comfort zone until you reach a level that you are happy with.

I don't know that this is the best course for you, but I do know that it can have allot more positive results then just sitting by yourself waiting for somebody else to make the first move.

Look at it like this. All things in life get better with practice. It can be just talking to people, asking somebody out, being a good Friend, cooking and anything else that you may want out of life. So figure out what you want out of life and then don't be afraid to take that first step. It might not always work out the way you wanted it too but you will be allot happier down the road. Knowing that you at least tried rather then wondering what might have been.
